Take a look at what we have going on for the garden right now!

Here is What we Have Growing Right Now

Onions starts for the market garden

Onions have been trimmed several times now and are getting close to planting time. They should be in the ground in a few weeks. I’m excited to be building a few raised bed sections this year and one of those will have the onions in it. Raised beds will be 3x18 feet, and give us a nice loose dirt for the things that need pulled up to harvest. We have very compact soil, which we are working on and a lot of weed pressure from Morning Glory, so it’s a process for sure.

Just Started a round of lettuce, cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower.

I just seeded a new round of head lettuce. We only plant enough of the lettuce for our home kitchen really. Head lettuce seems to be my nemesis and I continue to rise to the challenge. It gets so blasted hot here that it always bolts. I could choose to grow leaf lettuce instead and yet I challenge myself with romaine every time. It’s just honestly my favorite and I want to be able to grow my own.

Broccoli, Cauliflower and Cabbage were just seeded as well.

Lisianthus

Lisianthus are such a SLOOOOOWWW growing flower, but they are beauty’s when they bloom! These little fellows were just up-potted this week in March. They don’t mind the cooler weather, but will need frost cloth below 28 when they are planted out in the ground. Still holding out a few weeks to make that move.

Eucalyptus

These guys were started the first of January. They are about 4-6 inches tall now in March. They will need to be up potted very soon, just holding over till it’s warm enough for them outside.
